Tool Testing

All pneumatic tools are tested under normal operating conditions using two Saylor Beall 80-Gallon 5 HP Air Compressors (CFM rating 16-30). One compressor begins at 115 PSI and the other is used if the air lines fall below 105 PSI; the maximum line pressure is 145 PSI. The air lines are hard piped with 3/4" steel air hose.

Our impact wrench testing equipment is rated up to 2,000 ft⋅lbs. Impact wrenches are tested with a Skidmore Model RL power tool tester for 3/8", 1/2", and 3/4" impact wrenches and a Skidmore Model H bolt tension calibrator for 1" impact wrenches. Torque is tested by running the tools for 3.5 seconds to represent the working torque range.

A 3/8" ID whip hose is used for testing 1/2" and 3/8" impact wrenches, and a 1/2" hose is used for testing 3/4" and 1" impact wrenches.

Pricing

We repair tools only when we feel it's cost-effective to do so: generally up to 65% of their retail cost. Because we are so confident in our assessments, we prefer that our customers pre-approve the repair, which often results in the fastest turnaround time possible. However, if you would like an estimate regardless of our assessment, please make sure your estimate request is noted when you ship your tool for service.

Learn more about how to send us a tool.

If you request an estimate and decline the repair, you can choose to have us scrap the tool at no charge or return it to you for a fee of $10.00 plus shipping. Determining an estimate may require disassembling the tool; if you would like your tool to be reassembled before it is returned, you will be charged $12.00 plus shipping.

Torque Wrench Service

We repair, recalibrate, and certify most makes and models of torque wrenches up to 2,000 ft./lbs. Our calibration equipment is calibrated yearly using weights and measures traceable to and complying with the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).

Testing is accomplished with a CDI Suretest (for 1/4"-1" wrenches) and a Snap-on TTC400 (for 1/4"-1/2" wrenches). We also use a decibel reader, a temperature gun, contact/laser and vibration tachometers, and a battery and chargers rack during our testing.

Note: We are a warranty service center for Precision Instruments and Cornwell/Professional Tool Products electronic torque wrenches.
